MINIX Z100-0dB hands-on

The MINIX Z100-0dB is a very compact Windows 11 mini PC (think Intel NUC) featuring a 123 x 120 x 46mm (4.84 x 4.72 x 1.81") heat sink chassis, and powered by the popular Intel N100 processor.

The Z100-0dB looks really good and different from other fanless mini PCs. MINIX brings something new to the table, and it is much appreciated. The PC comes with various accessories, including Wi-Fi antennas and a surprisingly small power adapter.

Connectivity is good with one USB 3.2 Gen 2 (Type-C), two USB 3.2 Gen 2 (Type-A), micoSD card reader, audio jack on the front. For some reason, the Z100-0dB looks huge in our pictures. It's really a 4 x 4-inch PC, we promise.

The back panel features 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, two USB 2.0 ports, and two HDMI 2.1 ports (4K@60Hz support). The system comes with a useful anti-static hardware protection feature which minimizes electrostatic discharge (and protects internal components).

A nice touch: The Z100-0dB comes with a heat sink already installed on the PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD. Direct access to memory and storage is a very simple task.

It works! The Intel N100 is a very snappy CPU (for the first time, Intel's low power offering can be considered as a desktop-grade processor) but it can get quite hot. The Z100-0dB handles it without breaking a sweat. Under heavy load, our N100 never exceeded 75°C. We really enjoyed our time with the MINIX Z100-0dB. It's a smoothly functioning and carefully designed product. And yes, it's totally silent. The Z100-0dB is available on Amazon or directly from MINIX.
